Revitates Wine Innovation Summit 2025
Almendralejo is a European epicenter of wine innovation with the celebration of the Wine Innovation Summit 2025. More than 200 wine professionals and entrepreneurs gathered at the largest European event on digital transformation and sustainability in the wine world.
During the meeting, held at the Iberovinac fair, the major challenges of the sector were discussed and disruptive solutions were presented that are marking the future of global wine-growing. The focus was on the digital transformation of the sector and the role of technologies such as artificial intelligence, sensorization, blockchain, regenerative agriculture or digital twins to achieve more efficient, sustainable and cost-effective production.
One of the most relevant moments was the thematic round tables, where the practical application of technology in the vineyard and in the wineries was discussed. Major companies such as John Deere, ISR, Biomemakers, Nigal, University of Extremadura, Finnova, Bodegas Robles, Ecoterrae, among others, who shared real cases of automation, artificial intelligence and agribusiness data management.
The Vice-President of the INTEC Foundation, Juan Francisco Delgado, presented the Agro-food Trends Report 2025, stressing that innovation must be the lever for the sector to anticipate challenges such as climate change and new market requirements.
Three startups were awarded for their impact on the sector:
- Best Startup: Kanarabus - the use of beneficial micro-organisms to regenerate the soil and improve the resilience of the vineyard. The award was given by the Mayor of Almendralejo, José María Ramírez.
- More innovative Startup: Grape.ag (Mexico & USA) - for its technology of sensory and artificial intelligence for the monitoring of vineyards.
- More sustainable Startup: Tecnoalgae - the use of microalgae in crops, improving soil fertility and reducing emissions.
Among the major conferences, Álvaro Giménez offered a strategic vision on the export of wines to the US. United States, with emphasis on customization of supply, digital marketing and sales segmentation, with Miami as a key state. He also stressed the importance of connecting with new generations through sustainable alcohol-free and fermented wines.
The chef with Michelin star, Kisko Garcíahe presented new techniques for the production of gourmet vinegar, presenting innovations applied to the high kitchen by natural processes of fermentation and complex pairing.
The event also showed new forms of enoturism with immersive experiences of increased reality, virtual assistants and interactive tours in wineries.
